Ciao, suerte, me avisan!

In english
Up top I state that I am addressing my readers in Spanish.  I admit I am scared because, even if it´s how I speak, when I speak, I am greatly misunderstood.

The thing is, this Kenneth Cole bag in the pic, can be styled as the highly coveted and sold out Mansur Gavriel bags.  Seriously, we can deffinitelly work the look, if we are able to ignore the logo and the envy its scarcity provoques.

If you insist though, I shall direct you guys to the English Net-a-Porter site where they have a few styles available.  If you are an experienced internet buyer, you can get them by following these directions: go to the home page, change the county settings on the top left to United Kingdom and GO!

Best Work Bag/ Portfolio/ Carryall/ Ever

Monday, September 29, 2014

This is the best ever lady office bag.  It even turns into an oversized clutch.  I mean, it´s genius!
That´s what she said...

The only risk in having it would be taking too much work back home.  Talk about motivation!  Don´t think I don´t know us who buy exercise apparel to jump start a work out.  Seriously.

It even makes me wanna go back to work.

The Essential Button-Down Shirt: Three Tips for Impecable Styling

Friday, September 19, 2014

1.  Accessories are key
2.  Take risks with proportions
3.  In case we are not on the same page, shoes are accessories (as well as sunglasses and watches).

Have you noticed how shoes make a button-down-shirt look disguise a want-to-show-off-my-shoes-and-make-it-seem-effortless look?

Dreamy Coffee Place... java and water, perfect combo.

Wednesday, September 17, 2014

I shot this pic during a walk in Helsinki and I thought this place was dreamy.  All the while, the tour guide lady kept insisting that coffee is sacred to the Finns.  No matter how crude her hyperboles got we were not impressed.  Not only because we are from Panama, but because she had already left us aghast with the Finish fascination with visiting the sauna.  She attests people have weekly sauna reservations they do not miss for the world and that provide a valid excuse for missing a dinner party should there be a scheduling issue with the sauna slot.   As closing statement to her point, she attests divorce disputes get really nasty over who gets the sauna.  After that, do not give me more examples of comunal fascination with anything because it will all start to sound suspicious.

Well, she got me....

The second I learned this place was a coffee shop.

You know what this means right? Right. We are doing it all wrong in Panama.

Granted that the weather and mosquitoes might be an issue, but Citronella and a Matthew McConaughey facial mist has never hurt anyone.

Now somebody serve me coffee on the water while a big boat cruises through the canal.

Breaking the rules of styling.

It is preposterous to attempt a how-to guide to breaking rules on anything, but the more you hear frases like, you can mix prints but mix a geometric print like lines or squares with the floral or animal prints and try to get the prints to vary in size... Then, my friends, you are being lectured on yet another "rule."

Style gurus and taste makers have a keen eye for breaking rules and then breaking the rule that constrains the exception.  But I´ve decided that there are a certain number of "permissions" that we should allow ourselves instead, which can stylistically elevate a look exponentially.

Permission to

leave home without earrings
mix metals
mix époques
wear a broach
wear flats with evening wear
tuck in your shirts and don´t wear a belt
wear custom jewelry to a formal event
wear pants to a formal event
go without jewelry to a formal event
............................. I think I have a hangup on how some women dress to formal events and my overall hidden agenda would be for some ladies to under-do it a bit.  No, ok, a lot.

The street style handbag guide

Thursday, August 28, 2014

First of all you must understand that the handbag has ten commandments, no matter how swell you put you look together, no street style is complete without it.

Let me show you the things that make you go hmm...

The Man Repeller wearing Valentino

Harpers Bazaar

To sum it all up, the handbag is:

the closing of all statements.
the cohesion of all matter.
the universal of all languages.
the breaker of all deals.
the one of all shots.
the bite of all bullets.
the attention of all marches.
the aha to all questions.
the break to all waves.
the only to all ones.

How would you fill in the blanks?

the _______ of all _______

Zodiac Sign Leo

Monday, August 18, 2014

Enjoying the spotlight and being proud are two very fixed characteristics of people born under the sign of Leo.  Ruled by the sun and named after the lion -I am exhausted already! Yes, be prepared for the frequent dramatic outbursts...

It all seems nice and powerful but sooner or later the arsenal will start aiming against you.  Sooner if you visit a ¨shrinker.¨  This is the slang term I use for psychologists.  Gottit right?  Today in my session,  I was stunned in the same way the mirror on the wall stupefied the evil queen.  My glorious mirror that always tells me I am the fairest one of all, attacked me with the unexpected answer.

Because Freudian mumbo jumbo calls for it, we (my shrinker and I), are exploring past experiences to capture my distress today.

In short, I was in Pain so then came Pride.  She helped me build walls to protect me from further disappointment but Time caught me off guard.  In the end only Love conquers all (I apologize for that corny statement, but it´s true).

Disclimer: names have been changed to protect the privacy of individuals.

Full frontal with your emotions

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

I have had a pretty emotional couple of weeks and my curiosity found a new pastime.  Keeping track of how people express all sort of different emotions.  Good and bad...

Getting mad
Being really quiet
Sharing their feelings
Over-sharing their feelings
Sleeping a lot
Finding God
Finding fault

I admire most the person who lived through, shared, and gave space to their feelings.  Although I presume that even the most level-headed individual goes through most of the above mentioned scenarios...

Peter Pan Syndrome

Tuesday, August 5, 2014

I´m a bit under the weather with a serious case of Peter Pan syndrome.  It could be because I am reading a book which is a series of letters written by exemplary women to their younger self.

Before I post this, I´ll look for the name of the book and promise to share.  It´s a great read I just think Kindle has removed the visual of the cover for us and we tend to forget the names and authors of what we are reading (notice how we is employed to share the fault).

All tangents aside, today I caught myself listing all the things I did not do when I was younger but that I am not too late to do now.  If the impossible ones were there I´d be put away.

Also, some I have already done to certain degree, but we tend to write things we already did in To-Do-Lists just to experience the satisfaction of drawing a checkmark next to it.  We do this right?

Telling time
Anything handcraft-y
Modern dance

I will dedicate myself to checking these off just to sweat it off.

What is on your procrastinated to do list?
